Hannover House of Languages – HHoL (hannover-house.de) is a language school that I have been affiliated with over the last 20 years. It has mainly organized language courses in companies, especially for large insurance companies. With the advent of online platforms like Babble, some of these companies have cancelled their cooperation with language schools and bought online licenses instead. We will see if this trend survives and serves employees better than the courses organized by HHoL.
I can only speak for myself, but I prefer a steady relationship with teachers, trainers, and coaches. I used to take dancing lessons in a dancing school. And although the occasional change in instructors was okay, I preferred to stay with the same dancing teacher if I liked him or her. In fact, after several years, our course kept changing teachers and I eventually left. Now I am with another dancing teacher. I don’t like everything he does or how he does it, but then I say what I don’t like and he responds either by convincing me why he is doing what he is doing so that I accept it, or by accepting my points and changing accordingly.
Online platforms have started offering live classes 7/24. You sign up according to the topics on offer. You do not sign up with one teacher or trainer.
This concept might work for some or maybe it’s okay occasionally. It would not be for me. As a learner, I prefer personal teachers and believe that all the small language teaching businesses and individual freelancers of the past served their customers well.
If you are a company and still believe in coached courses with a reliable steady human being you can call your one responsible teacher (instead of changing faces picked from a catalogue of topical courses) then contact HHoL.
